Everyman goes cabaret for Christmas
Everyman joins Playhouse in opening for Christmas
Liverpool’s Everyman Theatre will reopen to audiences in December as a Christmas cabaret.
The theatre's auditorium will have cabaret tables and stage small, socially-distanced events featuring celebrating local artists for two weeks from December 10-24.
Everyman and Friends will run from December 10-12, marking the contribution of local arts organisations and featuring spoken-word company A Lovely Word, a burlesque show, clowns the Ugly Bucket Theatre Company and a choir, Sense of Sound.
Running from December 17-24 will be the Everyman Christmas Cabaret, reminiscent, says the theatre, of an underground New York cabaret bar featuring music by Sondheim, Billy Joel and Joni Mitchell among others.
The company is working in a new set-up with a live band and four local performers all with professional experience in major musicals.
:: The venue's sister theatre, the Playhouse, will play A Christmas Carol, adapted by Patrick Barlow and directed - her final job at the theatre before moving on - by artistic director Gemma Bodinetz.
