High-tech treats lie in store for outdoor live theatre audiences with Dr Blood's Old Travelling Show this month

The company responsible is Leeds-based imitating the dog, which specialises in high-tech storytelling with mixed video and live theatre.

The cast, newly-announced in advance of the show's opening night at Leeds Playhouse Square (Oct 7-8), features Laura Atherton, Matt Prendergast and Keicha Greenidge – all imitating the dog regulars..

The company's inventive storytelling skills are used to great effect, drawing on horror movies and the traditions of carnival shows to create a dark tale of mischief, immorality and long-buried secrets. Dr Blood and his crew reveal the price paid for pursuing ambition, hypocrisy and greed, set in a mythical 'north' and made for these strange times of lockdown.

Produced by imitating the dog and Leeds Playhouse, the show, written and directed by the company's co-artistic directors Andrew Quick and Pete Brooks, can also be seen in the courtyard of the Piece Hall in Halifax (Oct 9-10), at The Lowry in Salford (Oct 17), in Lancaster Square, Lancaster Arts and Dukes Lancaster (Oct 20-21) and in Belgrade Square, Belgrade Theatre, Coventry (Oct 23-24).
