Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre is to stream the UK premiere of a new US documentary celebrating the career of stage and screen star Olympia Dukakis.

Olympia, directed by Harry Mavromichalis, will be streamed on July 10 at 6pm on the theatre’s Facebook page. The documentary should have been premiered in New York, but Covid-19 saw the producers change their plans to a one-off online premiere, which will be seen not only in the UK but also in America and Europe.

Olympia is an intimate look at the life and career of the 89-year-old, Oscar-winning stage and screen actress, and features stars such as Whoopi Goldberg and Laura Linney. The screening will be followed by a pre-recorded Q&A session with Dukakis.

Hope Mill artistic director Joseph Houston said: "Many know Olympia’s incredible work on screen, but not many will be familiar with her career on stage. We are thrilled to be sharing it with UK audiences.

"There will be no cost to view the sceening, but we will be sharing info on how to support us and make a donation to the venue.”
