Jason Manford to rabbit on for The Lowry
Actors around the world will perform one-person show to mark pandemic's anniversary
Comedy and theatre star Jason Manford is to appear in an unrehearsed one-man show at Salford’s Lowry theatre as part of global event to mark the anniversary of pandemic lockdown this Saturday, March 13.
The show, White Rabbit Red Rabbit by Nassim Soleimanpour and Aurora Nova, is one of the most widely-performed plays of recent timesi, having been translated into over 30 languages and performed by some of the most respected actors in the business – all for one-night each.
Performers – including Manford – are handed the script live on-stage and immediately perform the text, in this case to an audience watching at home on Zoom.
Jason Manford said, “I’m proud to be following in the footsteps of some truly great actors in performing White Rabbit Red Rabbit. It’s a very sad anniversary that we’ve reached, but the end is in sight and I hope this event raises lots of money to support The Lowry through this difficult time.”
White Rabbit Red Rabbit was conceived in 2011 and requires no set, direction or rehearsal. Performances are taking place at 8pm in every time zone around the world - creating a wave of theatrical performances in front of a live audience.
Tickets are £10 per household, all proceeds going to The Lowry’s “Emergency Appeal”, set-up in March 2020 to help support the Salford charity through the coronavirus pandemic.
