Theatre launches activities from home for mature local people

Though Bolton Octagon’s Lottery-funded plan to launch ReAct, a project for over-50s, was postponed from its intended spring launch, the theatre has created new ways for local over-50s to connect and stay creative.

ReAct Theatre Club is a new online opportunity to watch and read theatre, then take part in informal discussions about it. Plays will be announced every Wednesday, with discussion taking place the following Wednesday from 2- 4pm over video-conferencing app Zoom.

The first discussion will be on April 29, exploring Flowers for Mrs Harris, which won three UK Theatre awards including Best Musical. The show, performed at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2018, was filmed so people can watch at home.

Anyone filling the criteria - from the Bolton area and over-50 - who would like to get involved should email here  to book a (limited) place. The theatre is also offering a guide to using Zoom if you are new to it.

The Octagon has also set up a new Facebook group for ReAct. Find out more and join the group by going here.

Last week the Octagon announced a delay to its big post-rebuild reopening due to the pandemic. See the separate story here.
