St Helens theatre puts a new panto online from the cast's homes, after postponing original plans

Families missing their usual Easter panto at St Helens Theatre Royal don’t now have to.

This year, despite the Coronavirus lock-down, the panto goes ahead online instead!

Producer Regal Entertainments has created a free streamed show – and what could be more appropriate this year than the story of Rapunzela princess locked-up in a tower in glorious isolation?

Rapunzel: The Lockdown Panto will be shown daily on the theatre’s Facebook and Instagram accounts from April 12-18 at 1.30pm.

The specially-filmed production will feature familiar faces from the theatre’s Easter shows: Olivia Sloyan as Rapunzel, James Lacey as the Witch, Lewis Devine as Daft Dave, Samantha Palin as the Queen, Warren Donnelly as the King, Andrew Geater as the Prince, Abby Middleton as Fairy Anna(logue) and Jenna Sian O’Hara as Pixel The Pixie.

Each member has recorded their own lines at home and careful editing has brought them together in a fun family event.

Regal had to reschedule its usual Easter panto, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, which will now appear – on stage – in the autumn.

Producer and director Chantelle Nolan said: “So many of our customers were disappointed not to be able to come to our Easter panto, so we thought this year we would take the panto to them.”

“We have a cast more than up to the challenge of creating a unique, new show.”

To watch the show, follow the Theatre Royal Facebook or Instagram accounts.

Information on how to view will be posted there.
