Crowdfunder exercise already at almost £500,000

The Theatres Trust has launches a national crowdfunding campaign to save stricken buildings.

The campaign could help 50 or more venues threatened with closure by the pandemic.

Nearly £490,000 has already been raised by the trust, which allows supporters to donate to individual theatres or to the fund as a whole.

The venues include the Bolton Octagon, the Theatre Royal Wakefield, the Darwen Library Theatre and Oswaldtwistle CIvic Theatre.

Theatres Trust director Jon Morgan explained: “The government’s £1.57 billion investment package will not save every theatre – which is why we’ve launched the #SaveOurTheatres campaign.”
