Immersive Trainspotting

The critically-acclaimed, immersive production of Trainspotting Live – based on Irvine Welsh’s seminal novel Trainspotting – will be setting out on a new UK tour after spending August at the Edinburgh Fringe. The production makes its only north west stops at Hope Mill, Manchester from September 13-17 and the Old Laundry Theatre in Windermere the following week (September 20-24).

Trainspotting is the story of Mark Renton and his friends, living through the Edinburgh heroin scene of the 1980s. This adaptation, written in 1996 – before it became the famous blockbuster film – was instantly successful and controversial and won the Sunday Times Award for Best New Play.

This punchy, 75-minute production recaptures the passion and controversy of the notorious novel and film and repackages it in an immersive experience, making the audience part of the show – including the notorious "Worst Toilet in Scotland" scene.

This King's Head and In Your Face revival has an authentically Scottish cast in a show that is, according to Irvine Welsh himself, "better than either the book or the film; the best version yet".
