Jeffrey Wainwright has published seven volumes of poetry with Carcanet Press, most recently What Must Happen (2016) and expects to publish another in 2020. He has also published two books of criticism including Poetry the Basics (Routledge). He has also translated Charles Péguy, Corneille, Claudel and Jean-Marie Koltès for the RSC Fringe and BBC Radio.
For 11 years he was northern theatre critic for The Independent and formerly taught at Manchester Metropolitan University. He lives in Manchester.
