My first proper job was at the Roundhouse in London (highlights – Le Grand Magic Circus, with whom I wanted to run away but couldn’t because I “only” spoke English and French; also, an afternoon of Brian Ferry rehearsing solo). I have been addicted ever since.
Now a retired journalist and PR consultant, I get very twitchy when there are fewer than two sets of tickets in the ticket drawer. Will happily watch pretty much anything but am allergic to pop-singing so-called tenors.
Pathetically excited by big spectacles – best ever was the Bolshoi Opera at the Scottish Exhibition Centre (they built a virtual Bolshoi Theatre inside to reproduce the acoustics) doing Tchaikovsky’s The Maid of Orleans, complete with flying angels.
Love a good panto (obviously).
