Following an already sold-out Manchester Opera House run coming in June, Burlesque the Musical will return from October 3-November 2, prior to a West End transfer.

The premiere stage adaptation of the popular film musical - which starred Christina Aguilera, Cher, Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci - completely sold out its original Manchester run in record time.

Aguilera, who is an executive producer of the musical, said: "Burlesque was my first feature film and creating the role of heroine Ali along with co-writing the music was a part of my career I will always cherish.

"Recreating Burlesque as a live theatre experience is something I always hoped would happen, and here we are!”

Character Ali heads to New York in search of her mother, but finds herself drawn into an underground world where the music and dance moves change her life forever. Among an unlikely family of misfits, dreamers and schemers, she finds her real voice, discovers her talent and finds where she belongs.

Written by Steven Antin and directed and choreographed by Nick Winston, with additional material by Kate Wetherhead, Burlesque The Musical has songs by Aguilera, Sia and Diane Warren, Todrick Hall and Jess Folley.

Robin Hawkes, theatre director of the Opera House said: “Whilst we never doubted Manchester would react well to being the first city to host this hotly-anticipated production, we have been completely blown away by the response."

Tickets go on sale on January 26 (10am for priority bookers, noon for the general public)
