Leeds Playhouse has announced an open casting call to find young actors to star as Oliver and Dodger or to join the children’s ensemble in its new staging of classic Lionel Bart musical Oliver!
The show will run in Leeds for Christmas (November 27-January 27) and applicants must be available throughout the run
Open auditions will be held on May 27-28, and any interested young person who meets the criteria and registers by May 17 will be seen. Applicants must be 9-12 years old, under 5ft tall and live within an hour’s commute of the centre of Leeds. Casting directors Keston & Keston said: “We’re looking for committed and enthusiastic young people with excellent singing, acting and movement skills – though no experience is necessary to audition. We welcome applications from young people of all backgrounds.” Leeds Playhouse's artistic director James Brining, who will be directing the show, said: “We encourage everyone who is interested and fits the brief to apply, even if they don’t have previous acting experience. I’m really excited to meet young people from all over the region.”
