Hull Truck Theatre's spring and summer season takes us from classic Shakespeare to classic comedy - the latter courtesy of former Hull Truck artistic director, John Godber.
Drama highlights of the early 2026 season include the home-produced Macbeth, on which Hull Truck has teamed up with regional partners Bolton Octagon and the Derby Theatre. Hull Truck artistic director Mark Babych will direct the show, which premieres there in February (5-28 - then Bolton in March and Derby in April).
The play will this time be set in a Dystopian war zone: “As conflicts continue to rage across the world, throwing lives into chaos, and with peace seemingly so hard to win, this feels like a pertinent time to be staging one of Shakespeare’s most enduring plays, examining the consequences of unchecked ambition,” said the director.
The new season also features Arnold Bennett's classic comedy drama The Grand Babylon Hotel (March 10-13), reworked by the highly popular actress-turned-writer and adapter, Deborah McAndrew, as well as children's favourite The Gruffalo’s Child (March 20-21) and a reworking of Godber's Teechers (April 21-30), presented by Godber's own company.

Comedy-drama Cured (June 24-27) by Laurence Clark, takes audiences on a trip to Lourdes. Will it be a chance for quiet contemplation, or an unholy mess?
The season also features a wide range of visiting comedy and drama, children's shows, music, youth theatre, amateur theatre and films.
