An immersive Northern Soul show starring the World Champion Northern Soul dancer comes to Wigan and Leigh’s social clubs this winter, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the one-time ground zero of dance clubs, Wigan Casino.

Award-winning theatre company Not Too Tame's The Social is an immersive experience, dubbed "a love letter to Wigan Casino" and celebrates all things community, clubland and Northern Soul. It features live and recorded music and yes, audience members will be able to get up and dance.

Director and co-writer Jimmy Fairhurst said: “We're incredibly excited to bring this to Wigan, the home of Northern Soul. We produce high-octane, heart-on-the sleeve stories that are steeped in working-class culture and made by working-class artists and this show is no exception. Northern Soul belongs to Wigan, so we must get this right!”

The cast includes Sally Molloy, who was crowned World Northern Soul Dance Champion in 2022, so audiences can expect authentic movement and music. Her story of winning the world title will be told within the show, which can be seen at Hindley Community Sports & Social, Wigan (November 15-18); Bickershaw Village Community Club (November 22-25); Leigh Miners Welfare (November 29-December 2) and St Jude Social Club, Wigan (December 6-9).
