A grant from the Cumbria Community Foundation will provide vital support for Theatre by the Lake's innovative Company 25, which gives 14 to18-year-olds from a wide range of backgrounds the chance to collaborate with leading theatre professionals to shape a series of performances.

Company 25 launched at the Keswick venue last year with a series of summer masterclasses for young people with professional theatre practitioners.

Continuing this year, the project will see participants engage in performing as wel as giving them useful skills across all areas of theatre budgeting and marketing to movement, music and performance.

"We're excited to receive this support," said Liz Stevenson, artistic director and Joint CEO of the theatre.

"The support will allow us to provide these young people with not just the tools for creating performances, but also skills that will stay with them for a lifetime. We believe Company 25 will be a game-changer for the next generation of theatre professionals in Cumbria, and we are grateful for the Foundation’s belief in our mission."
