Call The Midwife's Helen George stars in the latest tour of classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I at The Lowry in Salford in the new Year (January 9-13, 2024), immediately prior to a London season.

Helen played Anna earlier this year across the UK and will be reunited with her co-star, Broadway and film actor Darren Lee, who played the King on Broadway,

Helen is best known as Trixie Franklin in Call The Midwife, which returns for a Christmas special and then a new 2024 series.

The King and I is a sumptuous romance from the golden age of musicals, boasting one of the finest scores, including Whistle a Happy Tune, Getting to Know You, and Shall We Dance.

Set in 1860s Bangkok, it tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.

Following a Broadway run, a sold-out season at the London Palladium and two record-breaking UK and international tours, this lavish production is again presented by an internationally-renowned creative team under Tony Award-winning Bartlett Sher, and features a company of over 50 and a full-scale orchestra.
