Jane Eyre in Chester

Olivia Marcus (Everyone Else Burns) as Jane and Gabriel Akuwudike (Arcadia, Hamnet, King Lear), as Mr Rochester, will lead the cast of a new touring production of Jane Eyre arriving at Chester's Storyhouse in November (Nov 10-21).
The production is directed by Lily Dyble, winner of the 2025 RTST Sir Peter Hall Director Award, which supports emerging directors by giving them the opportunity to direct mid-scale regional touring productions.
Dyble said: “Courage in the face of the unknown is at the heart of Jane Eyre, and I’m thrilled to be delivering this story with bravery and risk - made possible by this phenomenal cast and creative team.”
Storyhouse creative director Suzie Henderson added: "Charlotte Bronte’s revolutionary masterpiece remains as potent today as in 1847, and this dynamic and imaginative new stage adaptation promises to present it in a visceral, powerful way. It will be a real highlight of our autumn season.”
Jane Eyre is a Mercury Theatre (Colchester), Rose Theatre (Kingston) and Storyhouse co-production, with Northern Stage Newcastle. It's at Northern Stage from November 3-7 before ending the tour in Chester.
