Board a steam train at Keighley, travel the full length of the historic Keighley and Worth Valley Railway to Oxenhope, then enter a specially-constructed auditorium in the engine shed to watch a new adaptation of The Railway Children (July 16-September 7).

The return to the line on which the famous Jenny Agutter movie was made is one of the highlights of Bradford 2025, the UK City of Culture – tickets for which went on sale on November 7.

York Theatre Royal's Olivier award-winning stage adaptation of E Nesbit’s classic novel - which tells the story of three children forced to move from London to Yorkshire after their father is falsely imprisoned - has been very popular since it premiered in 2008, but thanks to city of Culture, fans can now experience it in the actual locations used for the 1970 movie.

Bradford becomes the fourth UK City of Culture in January, selected by the Government from a record-breaking 20 bids. Events will take place throughout the Bradford district, which covers 141 square miles across West Yorkshire. The year will feature performances, exhibitions, events and activities inspired by the extraordinary variety of this landscape – from the city’s historic centre to the countryside that surrounds it.

The year will also pay homage to Bradford’s potent heritage as everything from a former industrial powerhouse to the world’s first UNESCO City of Film. Most of all it will celebrate the people of Bradford, from local artists and creative organisations to the diverse communities for which Bradford is home.
