Liverpool company debuts with slapstick comedy

Updated: Sep 29, 2022

New Liverpool-based fringe company Pes.To launch show So Close is a slapstick comedy aiming to teach a fundamental life lesson: if you're not living, you might as well be dead.

Kyle is a swimmer who thinks he has killed someone and in a panic runs to his ex-girlfriend for comfort. But she is moving on – to someone keen to take their relationship as fast as possible since his recent near-death experience. How far will she go to keep these two from meeting? Or have they already met?

Pes.To is three 2022 graduates from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts MA acting company. They had a nine-performance run of So Close at the Edinburgh Fringe in August, which was their professional debut.

The performers - Kirsty Black, Grant Brecheisen (who directs) and George Fragakis (also the writer) – believe, they say, in finding the comedy in everything, especially the negative.

The company makes its Liverpool Fringe Festival debut from October 2-4 at The Hold at The Shipping Forecast, 15 Slater Street, Liverpool, L1 4BW. Running Time: 50 minutes, no interval.
