In celebration of legendary comedy duo Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise’s joint centenary - both stars would have celebrated their 100th birthdays, this year and last - a series of special performances of Eric and Ern, a new show from devotees and performers Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens, the Olivier-nominated duo behind the West End hit Eric & Little Ern, will visit four theatres this spring.
Eric and Ern takes audiences back to the time when whole families would gather round the telly to watch the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Specials. This homage to the comedy heroes is full of renditions of their famous comedy sketches, from Greig’s Piano Concerto to Mr Memory and “Arsenal!”, as well as the pair's songs and a musical guest.
Following a limited run at Curve in Leicester, Eric and Ern will visit the Lowry in Salford (March 24-28), before the Garrick Theatre, London, and Morecambe Winter Gardens (May 16).
On March 25 the Lowry will also play host to a specially-adapted "dementia friendly" performance of the show (booking on 0161 876 2183).
