As part of Moulin Rouge! The Musical's world tour official launch at Manchester's Palace Theatre (August 20-October 4), anyone aspiring to a career in theatre can attend a special show that gives a glimpse behind scenes of the multi-award-winning musical.

Following similar events in London and across the globe, on September 23 Get Technical! offers the chance to hear from members of the production’s backstage and technical teams, watch live on-stage demonstrations and learn more about what goes into the making of a musical spectacular, from wigs to wardrobe and sound to stage management.

The event aims to motivate and inspire young people to consider a backstage career in the performing arts. Attendees will be shown how the different technical departments work together and get a look at some of the magic behind the show. Technical team members will also share stories from their own career and offer tips for getting into the industry.

Producer Carmen Pavlovic said: “Backstage is where a lot of the magic happens; producers are constantly on the lookout for great crew and backstage company members - stage managers; lighting technicians; hair, wig and makeup artists; wardrobe assistants; set automation and mechanists to name a few. We’re thrilled to reach even more people.

"By launching Get Technical! in Manchester, we hope young people will be inspired to consider the many potential career paths available in live theatre.”

Grace Cameron, the theatre's creative learning producer, said: “Too often young people are unaware of the wide range of theatre careers; Get Technical! is a spectacular opportunity to showcase these professionals and the vital work they do.”
