Murder On The Orient Express steams into Salford...

The new UK and Ireland tour of Agatha Christie classic whodunnit Murder On The Orient Express will open at the Lowry in Salford from September 6-14.

Other northern dates so far announced are Newcastle Theatre Royal (January 14-18, 2025), Sheffield Lyceum (February 4-8, 2025) and York Grand Opera House (March 25-29, 2025).

It's winter 1934, and an avalanche stops the Orient Express dead in its tracks. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Trapped in the snow with a killer still on board, can the world’s most famous detective Hercule Poirot crack the case before the train reaches its final destination?

James Prichard, CEO of Agatha Christie Limited and Christie's great-grandson, said, “We're excited to bring Ken Ludwig's magnificent adaptation of one of my great-grandmother's most atmospheric and ingenious stories back to UK audiences.”

This will be director Lucy Bailey's fourth time in charge of a stage adaptation of a Christie thriller: “Murder on the Orient Express is fast, funny, almost farcical at times, but with a dark undercurrent of loss and revenge," she said. "A train stuck in a snow drift; the holed-up passengers all suspected of murder, what fun to be had!”
