Peter Kay performed three special shows in a fundraising event at Bolton Octagon on Sunday – his first Bolton shows in 20 years.

Kay performed to elated fans lucky enough to have spotted the sale of tickets for the shows on the Octagon website.

Currently selling out arenas around the country with his new tour, as well as a monthly residency at London’s O2 Arena, Peter took time out to perform three intimate performances at the theatre – where the comedian was once a member of the Octagon youth theatre and a box office worker.

Tickets were extremely limited, with priority access for Octagon members and patrons, then to those who signed up to the Octagon’s mailing list. They sold out within minutes.

Octagon chief executive Roddy Gauld said: “We had an incredible day on Sunday, with three shows by Peter. Over a thousand people got the chance to be part of the hilarious and exclusive performance here in his home town."

“We’re a charity and incredibly grateful to Peter for his support and to Carrs Pasties, who sponsored the shows. We raised a total of £80k."
