Winner of the Women’s Prize for the Playwriting 2022, Karis Kelly’s Consumed goes on its premiere tour this autumn, calling at Leeds Playhouse (September 10-13) and Sheffield Theatres' Tanya Moiseiwitsch Playhouse (September 24-October 11).
A twisted tale of dysfunctional family dynamics, generational revolt and national boundaries, this dark comedy is a co-production with Paines Plough, Belgrade Theatre and the Women’s Prize for Playwriting, in association with the Lyric Theatre Belfast.

It features four generations of Northern Irish women, reunited under one roof for an 80th birthday party no-one seems to want, a house full of hungry ghosts, and more than one skeleton in the closet.
The impressive cast includes: Julia Dearden (Derry Girls; After Life; Dancing at Lughnasa), Caoimhe Farren (The Ferryman; Derry Girls) and Andrea Irvine (Blue Lights; Line of Duty)
Karis Kelly said: “I was at the auditions and I was absolutely blown away by their talent."
Director and Paines Plough’s joint artistic director Katie Posner, said: “ From the first moment I read it, Consumed gripped me completely. As the family reunion unravels, the tensions between the four women speak to the silences and secrets passed through them all."
