A decade after its critically-acclaimed premiere at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre, Anna
Jordan’s hit play Yen - which won the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting - returns north to the Bolton Octagon (September 3-13), and the Alphabetti Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne (September 17-20), with a cast led by Coronation Street and Emmerdale's Vicky Binns.
Hench is 16, Bobbie is 13. They live alone with their dog, Taliban, playing PlayStation, watching porn, surviving. Sometimes their chaotic mum Maggie visits and occasionally passes out on the front lawn. But when Jenny knocks on the door, the boys discover a world far beyond what they know, one full of love, possibilities... and danger.
The new production comes from dedicated northern company Divided Culture, directed by co-founder Connor Goodwin, and as well as Binns as Maggie also features Adam Owers as Hench, Jonny Grogan as Bobbie and Lucy Eve Mann as Jennifer.
