Queer Contact festival returns to the multi-arts venue in the heart of the Manchester University campus from this Thursday (February 12) until February 21, bringing together theatre, cabaret, live art, film, line-dancing, market stalls and more, with many low-priced events and some completely free.
Theatre event highlights include Main Character Energy (February 12-13), in which a beautiful Black actress presents an autobiographical one-woman show about finally taking up the space she’s so often been denied; filmmaker Graham Clayton-Chance presenting a body of work rooted in queer country
and western dance culture in San Francisco (February 21), and trans artist Hunter King sharing his gender journey through a queer parody musical set in the "Wild, Wild" North West (February 21).
Jack Dale-Dowd, CEO of Contact, said: “Queer Contact is a vital moment in our year — a celebration of queer artists telling their stories in their own voices."
