The world stage premiere of The Silence of the Lambs goes on UK tour next year and into 2027.

TV writer and playwright Gina Gionfriddo (Law and Order, Rapture, Blister, Burn) will bring Thomas Harris' thriller to the stage in a new adaptation directed by Leicester Curve's Nikolai Foster.

Northern dates are: the Lowry, Salford (October 6-10, 2026); Bradford Alhambra (October 12-17); Hull New Theatre (November 3-7); Blackpool Grand (January 11-17, 2027); York Grand Opera House (March 15-20); Buxton Opera House (May 17-22); Liverpool Empire (June 14-19) and Sunderland Empire (June 21-26, 2027).

The familiar, chilling thriller relates how FBI trainee Clarice Starling is sent to interview psychiatrist and infamous murderer Hannibal Lecter in the hope she can persuade him to help to catch sadistic new serial killer, Buffalo Bill.

Another girl is missing and time is running out, but Lecter has questions of his own - and now Clarice must decide: keep a safe distance, or let Hannibal The Cannibal into her head?

Playwright Gina Gionfriddo said: “Thomas Harris’ novel speaks so eloquently to the interior terrors that fuel his iconic characters - both the monsters and the heroes who slay them.”

Director Nikolai Foster added: "At the heart of this play is the remarkable relationship between Starling and Lecter; through their gripping meetings, these two characters develop a compelling relationship. "Harris’ novel is filled with stunning iconography and imagery, ripe for theatrical invention.”
