Family musical The Enormous Crocodile, based on the Roald Dahl story, takes up residence for Christmas at the Lowry in Salford (December 10-January 4) before a UK tour that calls at northern venues Newcastle Theatre Royal (May 20-23); York Theatre Royal (June 24-27) and Bradford Alhambra (July 15-17).

The adaptation is proving one of the most popular Dahl stories to have been staged. The show had a season at Leeds Playhouse in 2023 and was seen at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in 2024 and this year.

The croc is also a hit in America, where it is touring to Minneapolis, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Weaving the way through the jungle in search of delicious little fingers and squidgy podgy knees, the crocodile is played by Chelsea Da Silva, in a professional theatre debut after training at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.

The show has toe-tapping tunes by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, book and lyrics by Suhayla El-Bushra, and additional music and lyrics by Tom Brady. It features a menagerie of puppets by co-director and puppetry designer, Toby Olie, and it's suitable for anyone three or over.
