In the most appropriate scheduling of the year, Blackpool's historic Grand Theatre will stage feelgood show Summer Holiday The Musical (July 29-August 8) this summer.
Based on the 1963 Cliff Richard film, the stage version features some of the biggest songs of the 1960s, including Summer Holiday, Bachelor Boy, Move It, Dancing Shoes, The Young Ones and In the Country. A co-production with land-locked Sheffield Crucible – where it will play from June 20-July 18 - the show should be right at home in Blackpool.
Adam Knight, chief executive of Blackpool Grand, said: “After the incredible success of Grease The Musical last summer, we wanted to bring audiences another musical that feels like a real event - something joyful, generous and perfect for the whole family, and Summer Holiday is exactly that.
"There’s something very special about telling this story in Blackpool, the home of the great British seaside holiday."
