The Guest goes on tour
North East choreographer and director Anthony Lo-Giudice’s dance theatre work The Guest tours northern England from October, before travelling to London and Italy next spring.
Blending dance, live music, storytelling and puppetry, The Guest explores what happens
when a stranger washes up on the shores of England.
Created through interviews and conversations with communities across England, The Guest brings together different, often conflicting perspectives on national identity.
At its heart is an exploration of belonging, shaped by Anthony's experience of arriving in England as a child, from his home in Sicily, and finding ways to understand a new home through fantasy, stories and mythology.
Anthony explained: “The Guest is my take on an Old English saga through a modern lens, exploring England, belonging, identity, and our relationship to the natural world.
“England is a complex beast that shifts between magnificent and atrocious, benevolent, and cruel. Can we be proud of it? The answer will always divide people. Perhaps we should be
asking ourselves: how will people look back and remember us?”
Tour dates so far announced include ARC Stockton Arts Centre (October 3); Hipp at the Hullabaloo, Darlington (November 18); Bradford Arts Centre (November 28); Durham Cathedral (February 25, 2027).
