Top award for Buxton Opera House volunteers

Buxton Opera House's dedicated front of house volunteer team has won the gold award for Team of the Year at the 2026 Visit Peak District, Derbyshire and Derby Tourism Awards.
The theatre’s team of over 130 volunteers - which forms the core of the charity’s vital customer service activity - was recognised for its dedication and contribution to the experience of visitors.
The winners were revealed at a joint ceremony (with the Nottinghamshire Tourism Awards), showcasing the region’s outstanding tourism businesses, which drive a £3.58bn visitor economy.
Jonathan Thompson, who is head of operations and deputy CEO, said: "We are incredibly proud to see our fantastic team of volunteers recognised with the award. Their unwavering commitment and passion are the heartbeat of Buxton Opera House. This award is a testament to their hard work and the vital role they play."
