Hit romantic comedy Waitress is on its first UK tour, among other dates calling at Manchester Opera House (November 8-20, tickets here); Venue Cymru, Llandudno (Mar 28-April 2, 2022, tickets here), Liverpool Empire (May 9-14, 2022, tickets here) and Bradford Alhambra (July 25-30, 2022, tickets here).

The show tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage.

A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer Jenna a chance of a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes to happiness. But she must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. The show celebrates friendship, motherhood... and the magic of a well-made pie!

Starring in the title role for the tour is Lucie Jones, who previously played the part in the London run. She first came to prominence in 2009, when she reached the finals of ITV’s The X Factor. Since then her many theatre credits have included Les Miserables, Legally Blonde, Ghost, We Will Rock You and The Wedding Singer. In 2017, Lucie represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev with the single Never Give Up On You.

Also in the cast are Sandra Marvin, once Jessie Grant in Emmerdale and Matt Willis, best known as a member of the double Brit-Award-winning band Busted.

Waitress is based on the 2007 film, written by Adrienne Shelly, with music and lyrics by Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles.
