Singer-songwriter, Pop Idol winner and actor Will Young will star in a new production of a one-man play by award-winning Stockport writer Simon Stephens at HOME Manchester early next year (February 22-March 11, 2023).

With a score by Mark Eitzel and directed by Manchester-based Kirk Jameson, Song From Far Away is Young's first live theatre role in a decade.

On a winter day in New York, Willem receives a phone call – it’s time to go home to Amsterdam, to estranged family and forgotten relationships. As he reflects on his life, unwilling to face the future, he finds himself reaching out to the brother he has lost.

The show was highly praised when it when premiered at the Young Vic in 2015. Young's last live stage appearance was in 2013 in Cabaret, when he was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
