David Hunter will star as Henry and Joanna Woodward as Clare in the world premiere of The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical, at Storyhouse, Chester next month (September 30-October 15).

Based on the best-selling novel by Audrey Niffenegger, the Chester premiere will be followed by a London transfer.

David Hunter's theatre credits include West End productions of Waitress and Kinky Boots and the National Theatre's One Man, Two Guvnors. His film and TV credits include Nativity 3, Holby City and Doctors. His pop/rock band Reemer had support slots, playing alongside The Feeling, Scouting for Girls and McFly on their UK Arena Tour.

Joanna Woodward most recently understudied and played the lead in Pretty Woman: The Musical. Her other London credits include Carole King in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Merrily We Roll Along and Tinker Bell in Lost Boy.

Playing Old Clare is Alwyne Taylor, who won the Manchester Evening News Best Actress Award for Once in a Lifetime, Company, Sweet Charity and Accrington Pals at the Library Theatre and was nominated for a Manchester Evening News Best Actress Award for her role as Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit at Oldham Coliseum.

The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical is based on a hugely-popular novel and has an original score by multi-Grammy Award-winning composers Joss Stone and Dave Stewart.

Henry and Clare meet, flirt, fight, love, marry... but all out of order, because Henry is often and uncontrollably ripped out of time, never knowing where or when he’s going next – except he knows he’ll always come back to Clare at some point in time, dreaming of her time-travelling husband.
