Blackpool Grand Theatre has again joined forces with Blackpool Transport for the popular local "books on buses" scheme, and will be distributing 130 free copies of Tales From The Arabian Nights – which of course features this year's panto story, Aladdin – to passengers.

The scheme is part of the theatre's annual community literacy project, and will operate on several routes.

Chief executive of the theatre, Adam Knight, said: “We take huge pride in supporting the local community through a number of projects, including through the annual literacy partnership."

Jane Cole, managing director of Blackpool Transport Services, added: “We're adding some magic to bus rides across the Fylde Coast by putting great stories on board.”

The pantomime stars TV soap sensation and West End favourite Tom Lister (Emmerdale’s Carl King) as the wonderfully-wicked magician Abanazar; Britain’s Got Talent finalist and panto family favourite Steve Royle as Wishee Washee; stage actor Ben Harlow as Widow Twankey and K-pop superstar Moo Yi Kim as the beautiful Princess Jasmine, along with ever popular stage performers Mervin Noronha as Aladdin and Liam Morris as the Genie. The show runs from today until January 1.
