Bolton's Octagon theatre plans to kickstart summer with a tour of an outdoor show and a free family festival.

July brings the return of children’s theatre company The Fabularium, whose show There Be Monsters will visit outdoor venues in Bolton and the surrounding area from July 22-27. Noble knight Don Quixote and his long suffering sidekick Sancha Panza undertake their epic quest to revive chivalry, confront monsters and right what is wrong – or accidentally wrong what might well be right...

The tour will visit Bolton's Moss Bank Park (July 22), Queens Park (July 23-24), Atherton Laburnum Rovers (July 25), and Bradshaw Cricket Club (July 27), with performances at 1pm and 3.30pm each day.

In August (26-28) family fun comes to the Octagon itself with a free family festival alongside the town's Food and Drink Festival. The theatre will create a programme of events for families including craftwork, storytelling and live performances.
