This autumn's revival of Helen Forrester biographical drama By the Waters of Liverpool has now acquired a full cast – and a new opening venue, following the closure of Liverpool's Epstein Theatre.

The tour has been a long time coming, since its inaugural 12-week, 17-venue tour in the Covid-hit spring of 2020 was abandoned after visiting only three theatres.

The tour was scheduled to open with 15 performances at the Epstein in Liverpool city centre. Following the Epstein's unexpected closure, the new, eight-week tour will open at The Auditorium at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on September 4, before visiting 11 more venues.

The three remaining roles have now been announced, with Tom Roberts playing John Forrester (author Helen's father). Joe Gill will play Harry O’Dwyer (Helen’s love interest), while newcomer Emma Mulligan will play Helen. The trio complete the nine-strong cast, whose members play over 50 characters.

The new stage production is based on the book of the same name by the acclaimed author, who wrote four volumes of autobiographical drama. The autumn tour starts in Liverpool and ends in New Brighton – both locations important to the Forrester story. It will also visit Crewe, Coventry, Sale, Rhyl, Darlington, Lichfield, St Helens, Southport, Halifax, and Lytham.
