Could you be a Who? Leeds Playhouse is inviting young performers to audition for the children’s ensemble – and the key role of Cindy Lou Who – in How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical.
The theatre has launched an open casting call for the show, which is in the main Quarry Theatre from November 19-January 16, 2027.
Young actors - including disabled and non-binary youngsters - can submit a self-tape; those who meet the casting criteria and register by June 1 will be considered. These are paid roles.
Leeds Playhouse artistic director, Tom Wright, will be directing the musical. He said, “The Grinch is a wonderfully imaginative and joyful story that audiences of all ages know and love. Taking part in a production like this can be an exciting, confidence-building experience. It’s always inspiring to see young performers bring a story like this to life on our stage."
Casting directors Keston and Keston said: “We’re looking for talented, committed and passionate young performers. Young people with very strong singing, acting and dance or movement skills. No previous experience is required to audition.”
To be considered for inclusion in The Grinch musical, children must live within an hour of Leeds and be living at home throughout the production. Go to the Weston website for details.
All young people are invited to send a self-tape via the website by June 1. There will then be various recall workshop sessions, where the shortlsted young people will be able to meet.
