Carrie Hope Fletcher - who starred in the newly-ended UK tour of musical Calamity Jane - will lead the cast of composer and singer Sara Bareilles and adapter Jessie Nelson's romantic musical comedy Waitress when it sets out on a nine-month tour in 2026.
Carrie's many theatre credits also include Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella, Heathers and The Addams Family, all of which won her a Best Actress in a Musical award at the WhatsOnStage Awards. She will head the show for dates up to and including Manchester in our region, with further casting still to be announced.
Northern dates are: Bradford Alhambra (April 13-18); Sunderland Empire (May 4-9); Manchester Palace (May 26-30); Blackpool Opera House (July 13-18); Venue Cymru, Llandudno (August 17-22); Hull New Theatre (September 1-5); Liverpool Empire (September 7-12); Sheffield Lyceum (October 13-17) and the Lowry, Salford (October 27-31).
Waitress tells the story of waitress Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her the chance at a new life...
The show opened on Broadway in 2016 (after an opening run in Massachusetts in 2015, hence the poster), where it ran for four years; but it has gone on to further success with productions in London, Japan, Holland, a French language production in Canada - and, currently, in a Spanish language production in Mexico.
