Live@The (Oldham) Library has Manchester-based Eyeline Theatre this week, with a double bill of two short plays originating from monthly script sessions for new and established writers.

The sessions are hosted by long-established, awards-nominated local actress Joan Kempson (Coronation Street; Early Doors; Betty, A Sort of Musical at the Royal Exchange Theatre).

Joan said: "I started holding the sessions out of my love of words and to fuse a network for local creatives, and we have started producing again. I've chosen two scripts from new, inexperienced writers and there are a number of others waiting in the wings for future production."

Eyeline Theatre's current offerings for Oldham (on November 6-7 at 7pm, with matinees each day at 1.30pm) are: Book Club, by Philip Stiles, featuring Joan Kempson, Will Travis, Christine Brennan, Vicky Binns, Tara Daniels, Steve Titley and Jamie Samuels. Maddie and George are newbies in a suburban avenue in Manchester. They join a local book club to get to know their neighbours, and it's their turn to host... but the evening hobbles along a tad awkwardly when a stranger knocks at the door.

The other play is Legacy, by Patricia Cunningham, in which visually-impaired Matt is adamant he will have nothing to do with his son Dominic, who he believes has sold something very precious to him. Will peace and harmony return, or is this the end of the father-son relationship?
