Cast selected for 42nd Street tour

Starring Samantha Womack, Michael Praed, Faye Tozer and Les Dennis, northern dates so far announced for the new touring production of backstage Broadway musical 42nd Street are Leeds Grand (July 25-29); Liverpool Empire (September 4-9) and Manchester Palace (September 25-30).

Womack most recently starred as the White Witch in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Other stage credits include The Girl on the Train, The Addams Family and Guys and Dolls, and of course she was Ronnie Mitchell in EastEnders.

Michael Praed’s credits include War of the Worlds, Aspects of Love, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, High Society and The Sound of Music. On TV he has played everything from Frank Clayton in Emmerdale to Prince Michael in Dynasty and Robin Hood in Robin of Sherwood.

Faye Tozer is best known as a member of BRIT Award-winning pop band Steps, while Les Dennis recently starred as Grandad Trotter in Only Fools and Horses, The Musical and has just finished appearing in Spring and Port Wine at Bolton Octagon.

42nd Street is a larger-than-life celebration of musicals and the irrepressible spirit of Broadway. Fresh off the bus from small-town America, young and beautiful Peggy Sawyer (Nicole-Lily Baisden) arrives in New York City dreaming of her name in lights. She lands a spot in the chorus line of Broadway’s newest show and when the leading lady gets injured, Peggy gets her shot at stardom.

The big attraction of the show is the dancing and songs, from We’re In The Money to Lullaby of Broadway and I Only Have Eyes For You.
