What would you do if you had one last day in Blackpool? Climb the tower? Stroll on the seafront? Or how about a visit to your beloved community garden?

The Land Beneath Our Feet from Blackpool arts organisation LeftCoast, is a theatre work aiming to capture Blackpool’s community spirit and sense of humour.

Developed through community conversations with playwright and performer Nathan Parker during his time as writer in residence with LeftCoast, the script draws on real-life local stories about orchards and allotments - where we meet Ted, an old timer with a big heart.

Opening with a special night at Blackpool Grand on September 8, the show will then tour some of the Blackpool’s green spaces to offer an unusual theatrical experience.

Nathan said: “The project has been so fulfilling. Having the opportunity to create theatre and help it grow from genuine conversations has been really special to be part of.”

LeftCoast’s artistic director Laura Jamieson said: “The show is the result of a year-long residency Nathan undertook with us to explore how Blackpool residents feel about their green spaces. This work beautifully tells the story of why our connection to land is so important to us as humans.”

Nathan's tour takes in Blackpool Grand (September 8, 7pm), Grange Community Centre's garden (2a Bathurst Ave, Dinmore Ave, Blackpool FY3 7RW, September 9, 1.30pm), Mereside Community Orchard, FY4 4TD (behind the boys and girls club September 10, 1.30pm), Bridge Farm Allotments, Hawes Side Lane, Blackpool FY4, September 11, 1.30pm) and Revoe Public Square, Central Drive, 1 Ibbison Court. Blackpool FY1 4AU (next to Revoelution Community Centre, 12.45pm).
