Liverpool Theatre Festival returns on September 1 and organisers are counting down to opening night by revealing the full programme, which includes three more shows.

Created by Liverpool theatre producer Bill Elms, the outdoor live festival was first staged last September to help support the city’s creative arts industry during the pandemic. Its success prompted as enlarged event for 2021, including a new, week-long Little LTF festival of new writing, which was staged in July.

The main festival has a 12-day run until September 12, once again at St Luke’s Bombed Out Church in Liverpool city centre. Added to the already-announced line-up are shows Perfectly Frank, Twice Nightly and Swan Song, and there are cast announcements for 2Gorgeous4U, Everybody’s Talking About Musicals, Boing…Meow! The Musical, and Broken Biscuits. See the full programme and ticket details here.

Perfectly Frank will be seen on September 2, with David Knopov keeping the swing of Sinatra alive. Twice Nightly is on September 7 and was one of the highlights of the Little LTF festival highlighting Liverpool’s lost theatres of the 1930s, while Swan Song comes up on September 8. After a successful premiere at last year’s main festival, Swan Song by Jonathan Harvey again stars Liverpool Andrew Lancel, and is directed by BAFTA-award-winning Noreen Kershaw.

The festival will adhere to any requirements of Covid legislation for outdoor events.
