Barrier-breaking company Frantic Assembly marks its 30th anniversary of bold theatre with the premiere of Lost Atoms, by Anna Jordan (The Unrelenting, Yen, TVs Succession and One Day), billed as a "wild ride through a life-changing relationship", touring to northern dates at York Theatre Royal (October 7-12); Liverpool Playhouse (October 14-18) and the Lowry in Salford (November 11-15).
Jess and Robbie. A chance meeting, some disastrous dates, an extraordinary transformative love. It’s the stuff of fairy tales. Or is it?
Robbie is played by Joe Layton, currently Mick Michaelis in Coronation Street and an early graduate of Frantic Assembly’s talent development programme who has continued to work with the company. Jess is played by Hannah Sinclair Robinson, also a regular collaborator with the company.
Scott Graham, who directs Lost Atoms, said: “I think it’s very beautiful, but also incredibly funny, how we form relationships - how we become something different when we’re with somebody. And then on the other side of that, if that relationship parts, what are we left with? Has something been taken away or have we kept something of that other person with us?”
The play is recommended for over 13s - it has challenging themes and strong language.
