Fifteen years after Trainspotting, what has become of Renton, Sickboy, Begbie & Spud?

Disturbing, shocking and extremely funny, Irvine Welsh's Porno is a stage adaptation of the novel of the same name. It sold out one of the largest Pleasance venues for a month-long run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022 and earned rave reviews.

After a three-show run at the King’s Theatre in Glasgow, the production will visit three north-west venues this autumn: Liverpool Olympia (October 5), Crewe Lyceum (October 6) and Sale Waterside in Manchester (October 7) as part of a UK tour, prior to a London run.

Porno catches up with the characters from the iconic Trainspotting: Mark Renton hasn’t been back to Leith since he stole from his pals and ran off to Amsterdam. Life has been fairly good, but there’s always been something missing... So how will Sickboy, Begbie and Spud react to his return?

With Scott Kyle as Renton, James McAnerney as Sickboy, Jasmine Main as Lizzie, Chris Gavin as Begbie, Kevin Murphy as Spud and Jim Brown as Knox, Porno has been written and produced by award-winning writer Davie Carswell and directed by Jonty Cameron.

Carswell said, “After a fantastic run at the Edinburgh Fringe last year, we're stopping atthree venues across the North West to bring the show to Irvine Welsh fans. The adaptation follows the novel as closely as possible, with plenty of Irvine’s writing verbatim to give it a really authentic script.

“The show deals with reaching a certain age and reflecting on what you’ve achieved – or not, as the case may be. The play includes sexual themes, drugs and a lot of swearing – as if you’d expect anything else.
