Hull Truck Theatre's annual artist development season, Grow Festival, showcases new work from local talent and hosts workshops in theatre careers for professionals and audiences alike.
The showcase allows local people to be among the first to see new performances, take part in workshops and meet local industry professionals.
This year's selection includes:
Sh*t Life Crisis (July 23-25) - a new karaoke theatre show by Olivia Hannah (Braids) about how no one tells you that survival turns your life inside out.
BALLGAMES ( June 19) - a work-in-progress show about masculinity, morals, faith, and having the guts to do the right thing. It's written and performed by Aidan Thompson-Coates.
Katie Pritchard and Rob Kemp (July 1) - a multimedia mash-up with two Hull Comedy Festival legends. One part comedy game show adventure and one part cult comedy film.
Grow Insight Workshops ( July 1-7) - put careers in the spotlight. Join Hull Truck Theatre’s executive director Janthi Mills-Ward for a practical insight session on running a theatre; the theatre's marketing department explains how to reach audiences and build compelling campaigns, and there will be a talk from associate director Tom Saunder on Starting Small: producing your own work. It's for anyone taking the first steps into making and sharing their own work.
Local theatre artists are invited to apply for a two-day residency, What’s the Big Idea? (June 25-26). It's a collaborative development session designed to help generate, challenge and energise new ideas for making work.
If you are a theatre artist based in Hull or the East Riding of Yorkshire and there’s an idea you can’t quite shake, Hull Truck Theatre wants to hear from you and be part of your idea’s development.
