London-based Rambert Dance Company and Paris-based (La)Horde - whose collaborations span global icons such as Madonna and Sam Smith - unite for their only Northern performances at Salford's Lowry next month (September 16-18).

The programme of three works features a new piece, Hop(e)storm, specially created for Rambert, alongside restagings of (La)Horde's signature pieces Weather is Sweet and Room with a View.

Founded in 2013, (La)Horde is a collective of three artists - Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer and Arthur Harel - that aims to "redefine contemporary dance". Emerging from the city’s queer club scene, the trio creates choreographic works, films and installations that explore movement as a tool for storytelling and social commentary.

As well as their collaborations with global icons, their work often features performers from diverse, non-traditional backgrounds, reflecting a commitment to break through boundaries.

Eckhard Thiemann, who is a programming associate for dance at the Lowry, said: “(La)Horde is one of the most in-demand and hippest companies around. Their work is as ferociously energetic as it is intelligent, drawing from a wide range of influences, from fashion and pop culture to abstract dance and raving.

"We are very excited to bring this inspirational collaboration to Salford.”
