Scary autumn - and spring - with Paranormal Activity

Poster for the forthcoming tour of theatre chiller Paranormal Activity

On the heels of news that Shirley Jackson shocker The Haunting Of Hill House is due at a theatre near you this autumn, another shocker is also on the way to thrill audiences. Worldwide horror phenomenon Paranormal Activity will also be jump-scaring audiences into next spring.

The show tells the story of James and Lou, who move from Chicago to London to escape their past, but soon discover that places aren’t haunted: people are...

Blurring the line between cinema and live theatre, Paranormal Activity has already had London audiences jumping out of their seats and questioning what’s lurking in the dark long after the curtain falls.

Northern dates just announced include: the Grand Opera House in York (September 29-October 3); the Lowry in Salford (November 17-21); Leeds Playhouse (December 8-21), and in 2027 Bradford Alhambra (April 6-10); Hull New Theatre (April 20-24) and the Liverpool Empire (April 27-May 1).

Already a hit in London, Paranormal Activity will return to the West End this summer prior to the tour, marking the third extension for the scare fest.

Released by Paramount Pictures in 2009, the original film became a global sensation, grossing nearly $200 million worldwide and kicking off a franchise that spans seven movies.

The story for the stage - not borrowed from the films - is directed by immersive theatre pioneer and Punchdrunk Theatre's founder and artistic director, Felix Barrett, and is written by playwright Levi Holloway, whose previous thriller Grey House chilled audiences on Broadway.
