Following their success with cutting-edge play Mojo earlier this year, Manchester's Red Brick Theatre, Up ‘Ere Productions and Rising Moon combine for the local premiere of Dennis Kelly’s psychological thriller Orphans, an exploration of violence in the suburbs (King’s Arms, Salford, October 8-17).

In a modest home on an ordinary evening, Helen and Danny’s quiet night is disrupted by the arrival of Helen’s blood-stained brother, Liam. As the night unfolds, the atmosphere tightens and uncomfortable questions emerge about family, loyalty and the truths we’re willing to ignore to protect those we love.

The cast features Hollie-Jay Bowes (Waterloo Road, Hollyoaks) as Helen, Ryan Clayton (Waterloo Road, Coronation Street) and John O’Neill (Mojo, Cock, Emmerdale, Boat Story).

First seen in Edinburgh in 2009, and subsequently in Birmingham and London, the revival will be directed by Oliver Hurst, artistic director of Red Brick Theatre and winner of the Royal Exchange Hodgkiss Director Award in 2024.

Oliver said: “After our sell-out success of Mojo by Jez Butterworth earlier this year, we're excited to be bringing another outstanding play to Manchester so soon."

Actor and producer of Up ‘Ere Productions, John O’Neill, said: “I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Oli and The Kings team again to bring this brilliant play to Manchester. It feels incredibly relevant and right.”
