A brief case of crazy on tour this autumn

An award-winning physical comedy that explores how outcasts can find love and happiness is set to tour to several regional venues as part of a UK tour this autumn.
A Brief Case of Crazy by Rowan Armitt-Brewster for Sussex-based Skedaddle Theatre, has won a string of strong reviews and audience reaction for its mix of physical comedy and pathos. Set in an office, the audience witnesses the remarkable, embarrassing daily life of introvert Thomas, who muddles through his job but finds himself dragged out of his comfort zone and closer to his shy office crush, Daisy, when he discovers a magical briefcase.
Can Thomas overcome his insecurities - and a series of extraordinary misadventures - to win Daisy’s heart? Told with elements of puppetry, dance and mime, A Brief Case of Crazy draws inspiration from physical comedy icons from Mr Bean to Chaplin and Keaton.
Armitt-Brester, who apart from writing the show, also directs, produces and performs alongside fellow Skedaddle founders Sam Cunningham and Lennie Longworth. The three met as graduates of London's East 15 acting school.
He said: “A Brief Case of Crazy represents those who are different and awkward and encourages the audience to work harder to accept and to celebrate them.
“I’m excited to perform it around the country. All the work pays off in such a satisfying way when you hear the audience laughing at the jokes, feel them being moved by tender moments, and getting hyped up by the choreography.”
The show can be seen at Hull Truck Theatre (September 17), Guiseley Theatre in Leeds (September 25), the Lowther Pavilion in Lytham St Anne's (September 26)' Theatre by the Lake, Keswick (September 31-October 1), Victoria Wood Theatre, Bowness-on-Windermere (October 2), Edge Hill University, Ormskirk (October 5) and Chester Storyhouse (October 19-20).
The comedy, presented by Skedaddle and Shoddy Theatre, in association with York Theatre Royal, was a huge hit at the Edinburgh Fringe and has also enjoyed a London run, for which it won two accolades at the OFFIE WestEnd Awards earlier this year: the Assessor’s Choice Award, and a best staging award for Rowan Armitt-Brewster.
